Alpine Security hosted a live hacking and professional development event at the Southwestern Illinois College campus. One of the event’s main objectives was to announce Alpine Security’s EC-Council partnership. Alpine Security is an EC-Council Accredited Training Center (ATC) and has recently expanded their EC-Council course offerings to include ECSAv9, CHFIv9, CSCU, CEHv9, and CND.
Alpine Security has been approved as a CompTIA Authorized Delivery Partner. As a CompTIA Authorized Delivery Partner, Alpine Security will offer Security+, Network+, CompTIA Advanced Security Practioner (CASP), and other CompTIA certification exam preparation training programs.
The ECSA cybersecurity certification is a penetration testing certification that involves both a practical, hands-on component and a multiple choice exam. ECSA candidates must first execute a penetration test on a live cyber range, carrying out objectives against multiple targets. A penetration test report must be submitted for grade after the hands-on portion. Once an ECSA candidate passes the hands-on portion, they progress to the multiple choice exam.
Alpine Security added the Certified Network Defender (CND) certification to their cybersecurity certification training. The CND certification is based on the National Initiative of Cybersecurity Education (NICE). It covers cybersecurity protection, detection, and response. Courses are offered Live Online or Live In-Person in the Greater St. Louis area. Included: Exam Fee, 6 months iLabs access, and Exam Pass Guarantee.
Alpine Security is now offering Live Online cybersecurity training. The Live Online system allows you to attend a instructor-led cybersecurity course remotely. Courses with the Live Online option include CISSP, PMP, CEH, CHFI, Security+, and more.
Christian Espinosa presented at the 2016 AFCEA Mid-America Cyberspace Symposium on the Top 20 Critical Security Controls. Christian spoke about applying a risk-based approach to cybersecurity. A risk-based approach quantifies security controls, in contrast to blindly implementing “solutions” that minimally reduce risk.

Alpine will offer official EC-Council cybersecurity training including the following courses: Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Computer Hacking Forensics Investigator (CHFI), Certified Network Defender (CND), and EC-Council Certified Security Analyst (ECSA).
Christian Espinosa spoke at St Louis’s Washington University Security Round Table on “Decoding the Hack”. Christian’s presentation broke down attacks from the hacker perspective for three attack categories: physical access attacks, client-side attacks, and server-side attacks. The presentation included use of HID devices, keyloggers, social engineering, MITM, and Injection attacks.

Selsius and Alpine Security partner to offer co-branded cybersecurity training. Selsius, located in the Information Sciences Building at Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC), is now taking registrations for training in all aspects of cybersecurity. Topics include malware analysis, ethical hacking, digital forensics, penetration testing, and security awareness. Cybersecurity certifications will be offered.
